The Last Guardian blev tidigt utannonserat till Playstation 3 av samma team som gjorde Ico och Shadow of the Colossus, men sedan försvann det spårlöst i ett decennium, innan det slut släppte till Playstation 4. Betygen blev dock generellt lägre än utvecklarnas tidigare spel, och nu avslöjar producenten att äventyret gick igenom stora förändringar - eller nedgraderingar om man så vill - allt eftersom för att bli klara med det.
Det är i en intervju hos Cane and Rinse som Fumito Uedas äger att varelsen Tricos rörelser var mycket mer avancerade till Playstation 3 tidigt i utvecklingen:
"The Trico we were creating on Playstation 3 actually had more motion patterns than the PS4 version did, but we were unable to transfer everything due to transition time issues.
I had ideas such as Trico offering a hint in a stage where the puzzle is difficult, and Trico changing little by little through the interaction with players who have completed the game, but these ideas could not be implemented also due to the transferring time issue."
